My client is a predominantly long-only Asian asset manager setting up an Irish office on St. Stephen's Green to distribute its products into Europe. They are seeking a Head of Risk and Compliance to take on PCF 12, 14, and 52 roles for the group in Ireland.
The Head of Risk and Compliance will be pivotal in ensuring the firm adheres to all relevant legal and regulatory obligations in Ireland and any branch activities. This position involves managing the enterprise risk framework and acting as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise senior management on regulatory and conduct matters.
- Establish and maintain an anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing framework.
- Ensure staff are trained on compliance matters.
- Support regulatory relationship management, marketing material reviews, and internal controls.
- Conduct law and regulation horizon scanning.
- Develop and maintain the enterprise risk framework per global policies and Irish regulatory expectations.
- Manage operational risk incidents and external audit relationships.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects as required.
Skills and Attributes:
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
- Strategic risk and compliance planning capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with good negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Flexible team player who can work under pressure.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Ideally 3+ years in a similar role in a fund management firm, or 5+ years as a deputy head/senior compliance manager.
- In-depth knowledge of MiFID regulations and investment management distribution practices.
- Understanding of UCITS/AIFMD regulations and operational risk frameworks.
- Familiarity with EU ESG regulations is advantageous.
- Knowledge of fixed income and equity markets/products.
This is a hybrid environment (2 days from home), but they offer flexibility around family life.
