Fund Operations & Fund Risk Assistant Manager | International Super ManCo | Dublin | Hybrid - Dublin

Dublin | Irish Super ManCo | UCITS / AIFMD Focus

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Irish operation of a highly regarded international investment manager in a broad Fund Operations & Fund Risk Assistant Manager position.

This opportunity will particularly suit someone who enjoys working in a small, experienced and highly collaborative environment, wants to remain close to the operational detail, and is interested in developing greater technical and regulatory responsibility over time.

The Irish business operates with a deliberately flat structure. You will work directly with senior management and the firm's Designated Persons rather than sitting within a large operational department or managing layers of junior staff.

For the right person, the longer-term career path is towards greater ownership within Fund Risk Management and potentially a Designated Person responsibility, rather than traditional people management.

The business also offers an excellent work-life balance. Its key stakeholders and service providers operate across broadly similar time zones, meaning the team is not routinely dealing with late-night or very early-morning calls across multiple global regions.

    The Opportunity

This is first and foremost a hands-on fund operations role within an Irish Super ManCo.

You will contribute across the full operational lifecycle, supporting the firm's Designated Persons and working closely with fund administrators, custodians and other key service providers.

The role is broad by design and requires someone who is comfortable taking individual ownership, working independently and getting into the detail.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Executing and maintaining day-to-day operational controls and processes.

    • Supporting cash monitoring, settlement checks and reconciliations.

    • Maintaining operational trackers, logs and evidence.

    • Identifying operational issues, breaks and exceptions.

    • Investigating issues, documenting the underlying analysis and escalating appropriately.

    • Tracking remediation actions through to completion.

    • Preparing information and evidence for delegate and service-provider oversight.

    • Participating in operational and service-provider meetings and following through on agreed actions.

    • Supporting internal governance forums and committees.

    • Assisting with regulatory reviews, audits and inspection preparation.

    • Supporting fund launches, wind-downs and operating-model changes.

    • Contributing to improvements in operational processes, controls and documentation.

    Fund Risk Development

Alongside the core operational responsibilities, there will be increasing exposure to Fund Risk Management.

Experience in fund risk is particularly attractive, although the successful person does not need to already be a Designated Person.

Depending on your background, this may include:

    • Supporting fund risk monitoring and reporting.

    • Reviewing risk metrics, limits and exceptions.

    • Preparing analysis and information for the Fund Risk Management Designated Person.

    • Supporting risk-related governance and Board reporting.

    • Monitoring fund and investment risk within the relevant regulatory and internal frameworks.

    • Investigating and escalating risk issues.

    • Supporting the development and maintenance of appropriate risk controls and evidence.

For someone who performs well and develops the appropriate experience and judgement, there is a genuine medium-term opportunity to take on increasing responsibility within Fund Risk Management and potentially progress towards the Designated Person for Fund Risk Management function.

Any future PCF appointment would, of course, depend on performance, experience and the appropriate regulatory approvals.

    A Small-Team Environment

This is an important part of the opportunity.

The Irish operation is deliberately small and senior-led. This is not a traditional Assistant Manager role where the natural progression is to build and manage an increasingly large team.

    You will need to enjoy:

    • Working autonomously.

    • Remaining close to detailed operational work.

    • Taking personal responsibility for getting things completed.

    • Working directly with senior colleagues.

    • Contributing outside a narrowly defined job description when necessary.

    • Operating without multiple management layers or large teams underneath you.

Longer-term progression is much more likely to come through technical expertise, broader functional ownership and Designated Person responsibilities than through people management.

For someone who enjoys being close to the business and having genuine individual impact, that can be one of the most attractive aspects of the role.

    Work-Life Balance

The team enjoys a very good work-life balance.

Unlike some international investment environments, most of the firm's key stakeholders and service providers operate across broadly aligned time zones.

This means employees are not routinely expected to accommodate late-evening or early-morning calls across distant regions.

Combined with the hybrid working model, this provides a sustainable working environment while still offering significant responsibility and exposure.

    The Person

We are looking for an experienced fund professional, ideally with approximately 10+ years' experience across fund operations, ManCo operations, asset management, fund accounting or a closely related environment.

    You are likely to bring:

    • Strong hands-on fund operations experience.

    • Experience within or working closely with an Irish ManCo or investment manager.

    • Exposure to UCITS and/or AIFMD structures.

    • Experience working with fund administrators, custodians, transfer agents or other delegates.

    • Familiarity with NAV-related processes and operational controls.

    • Strong understanding of issue identification, escalation and remediation.

    • Excellent attention to detail.

    • Strong organisational and deadline-management skills.

    • Strong Excel and data-handling capabilities.

    • Clear written communication and documentation skills.

    • The confidence to operate independently within a small, senior team.

Experience in Fund Risk Management, including risk monitoring, reporting or supporting the Fund Risk Management Designated Person function, would be particularly advantageous but is not essential.

    Why Consider It?

This role offers an unusual combination:

Breadth – exposure across operations, oversight, governance and fund risk.

Visibility – direct interaction with senior management and Designated Persons.

Ownership – a small environment where individual contribution is visible and important.

Development – a credible pathway towards greater Fund Risk Management and potentially DP responsibility.

Work-life balance – hybrid working and stakeholders operating across broadly compatible time zones.

What it does not offer is a conventional route towards managing increasingly large teams.

For the right person, that distinction is precisely what makes the opportunity attractive.
