Deputy Chief Executive Officer – Investment Management - City Centre

Dublin | Hybrid | Planned CEO Succession Opportunity

We are partnering with a leading global investment management organisation to appoint a Senior Director / Deputy CEO to its Irish regulated investment management business.

This is a rare leadership opportunity created as part of a planned CEO succession strategy. The successful candidate will work closely with the current CEO and an established senior leadership team, with the intention of progressing into the CEO position in the short to medium term.

The Irish business operates as a Central Bank of Ireland-regulated Super ManCo, authorised as both a UCITS Management Company and Alternative Investment Fund Manager (AIFM), and forms an important part of a much larger global asset management organisation.

This is not simply a regulatory or governance role. The business has ambitious plans to grow AUM, broaden its investment capabilities and develop new products and asset classes. The incoming Deputy CEO will play an important role in shaping and delivering that strategy.

    The Opportunity

Working closely with the CEO and Board, you will help lead the business across strategy, investment management, governance, operations, product development, risk, and growth.

You will join a small, highly experienced organisation with an established team of senior specialists and Designated Persons. The technical expertise already exists; we are looking for someone who can lead, challenge, and empower that expertise while bringing a broader strategic and commercial perspective.

Success will depend heavily on your ability to build relationships and networks, both within the Irish business and across the wider international group. You will need to bring people together, influence senior stakeholders, and translate strategic objectives into practical outcomes.

We are particularly interested in someone with a solution-focused mindset — someone who understands what the business is trying to achieve and works collaboratively to find an appropriate way of achieving it.

Despite the seniority of the position, this is a focused organisation. You must therefore be equally comfortable discussing long-term strategy with the Board and rolling up your sleeves and becoming hands-on when required.

    What You Will Do

Working alongside the current CEO, you will:

    • Help shape and execute the business and growth strategy, including initiatives to grow AUM and expand investment capabilities.
    • Contribute to new products, fund launches, asset classes, and wider strategic initiatives.
    • Lead and support a highly experienced team of Designated Persons and senior professionals.
    • Build strong relationships across the wider global organisation and bring together the people and resources required to deliver strategic objectives.
    • Work with investment, product, distribution, and other stakeholders to develop practical solutions to business opportunities and challenges.
    • Support the Board through sound judgement, constructive challenge, effective reporting and implementation of its decisions.
    • Maintain an appropriate governance, risk, and control environment and oversee key regulatory and external stakeholder relationships.
    • Help develop a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing culture.

    Who We Are Looking For

We are deliberately keeping the potential background broad.

You may already be a CEO, Managing Director, or Country Head. Equally, you could be a COO, senior Designated Person, Head of Product, Head of Investment Operations/Oversight or another senior asset management executive ready to take the next step towards CEO leadership.

Previous experience as a ManCo CEO or PCF-8 is not required.

What matters is that you have the experience, judgement, credibility, and leadership capability to ultimately become CEO of a regulated investment management business.

    You are likely to bring:

    • Significant senior leadership experience within asset management, investment management, funds or a related regulated financial-services environment.
    • Strong knowledge of the investment management/funds industry and an understanding of UCITS and/or AIFMD.
    • Experience working with Boards and senior executive stakeholders.
    • Strong strategic and commercial judgement combined with an appreciation of regulatory responsibilities.
    • The ability to lead and gain the respect of highly experienced subject-matter experts.
    • A track record of building relationships and influencing across complex organisations.
    • A genuinely solution-focused approach and the ability to turn strategic objectives into practical outcomes.
    • The willingness to remain close to the business and become hands-on when required.
    • Excellent communication, judgement, integrity, and stakeholder-management skills.

Experience of business growth, product development, ETFs, new asset classes or investment innovation would be particularly interesting, although no candidate is expected to bring every element.

CEO Succession & Central Bank Approval

The Deputy CEO position is designated as a Controlled Function (CF1) under the Central Bank of Ireland's Fitness and Probity Regime.

You do not need to currently hold PCF-8 approval or to have previously been a CEO.

However, this is a genuine succession appointment. In the short to medium term, the successful candidate will need to have the capability and regulatory standing to progress through the Central Bank of Ireland Fitness & Probity approval process for PCF-8 (Chief Executive) before assuming the CEO position.

The transition provides a valuable opportunity to work alongside an experienced incumbent CEO, developing a deep understanding of the business, its people, culture and global relationships before potentially assuming overall leadership.

    Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is a rare opportunity to combine a genuine path to CEO with the chance to help shape the next stage of growth within an established global investment management organisation.

You will inherit a highly experienced senior team and have the opportunity to influence AUM growth, new product development, and expansion into new investment capabilities.

For an established investment management leader — or a senior executive ready to transition to CEO leadership — this offers the opportunity to have genuine influence over the future direction of the business.

The position is based in Dublin and offers a hybrid, flexible working environment, along with a comprehensive executive benefits package.
